College Foundation welcomes new trustees

During its April meeting, the College Foundation elected six new trustees and thanked four departing trustees. Beverley W. Armstrong (Psychology ’64, Darden ’66) of Richmond, Va.; Trey Beck (History, Slavic Language and Literature ’93) of New York; Kathy Thornton-Bias (Rhetoric and Communication Studies ’88) of Montclair, N.J.; David A. Harrison IV (College ’67, Law ’71) of Richmond, Va.; Richard Philip Herget III (History ’85) of Alexandria, Va.; and Tammy Snyder Murphy (English Language and Literature ’87) of Red Bank, N.J., were welcomed as new trustees for the foundation. Their three-year terms began with the April 2007 meeting.
The Foundation also elected Sheryl W. Wilbon (Foreign Affairs, Rhetoric and Communication Studies ’88) of Bethesda, Md., secretary and elected four new committee chairs: Locke W. Ogens (History ’76) of Weston, Mass., academic affairs committee; William B. Fryer (College ’71, Law ’74) of Atlanta, audit committee; Amy M. Griffin (English Language and Literature ’98) of New York, building and grounds committee; and Juliana Schulte O’Reilly (History ’86) of McLean, Va., Emeritus Society.
Four trustees rotated off the board: Kimberley Ann Hatchett (Rhetoric and Communication Studies ’84) of New York; Donald Laing III (College ’69) of Charlottesville, Va.; Michael A. Mallory (Curry ’80, M.Ed. ’86) of Charlottesville, Va.; and Calvert Saunders Moore (History ’90) of New York. The College Foundation is an independent University-related foundation created by alumni of the College of Arts & Sciences. The organization raises funds for and advocates on behalf of the College and Graduate School. It also manages major gifts and endowments for the benefit of Arts & Sciences.
