Psychology department news

This year the psychology department has hired five new faculty members — including three in chaired professorships — who will bolster the strengths of the cognitive, social and developmental specialties in a department consistently rated as among the best in the nation. In addition to Salthouse, the chaired professors are Gerald Clore, Commonwealth Professor of Psychology, an expert on emotion and social cognition; and Judy DeLoache, Kenan Professor of Psychology, who specializes in developmental psychology. Assistant professors Alev Erisir, who studies development of the visual system, and Lisa Goehler, who studies the relationships among stress and disease and the nervous system, round out the list of new psychology faculty.
