A new environment

Clark Hall addition opens

By Fariss Samarrai

A 45,000-square-foot addition to Clark Hall gives environmental sciences faculty, staff and students more room for offices, laboratories and computing. The new wing, which opened this semester and houses state-of-the-art laboratories, was funded by a $10 million gift from Paul Tudor Jones II (Economics ’76), who has long championed environmental causes. The University is raising matching funds for endowed professorships, scholarships, fellowships, field and laboratory equipment and a general department endowment for environmental sciences.

A state-funded renovation of the earlier Clark Hall structure is now under way to convert the space once used for laboratories into classrooms and offices.
