College Foundation welcomes new trustees

The College Foundation elected two new trustees during its April meeting. Amy M. Griffin (English ’98) of New York, N.Y., and Robert L. Mettler (Economics ’62) of San Francisco, Calif., were welcomed as new trustees and began three-year terms.

New officers of the board trustees also began three-year terms. They are Jeffrey D. Nuechterlein (Government and Foreign Affairs ’79, Law ’86) of Alexandria, Va., president; John B. Morse (History ’68) of McLean, Va., vice president; Kimberley A. Hatchett (Rhetoric and Communication Studies ’84) of New York, N.Y., secretary; Peter Brundage (Psychology ’75) of Dallas, Texas, treasurer; and John L. Nau III (History ’68) of Houston, Texas, past president.

Alan Y. Roberts (English ’64) came to the end of his time on the board and was thanked for his 12 years of dedicated service, 12 years in which he never missed a meeting. Roberts was a member of the former Arts & Sciences Alumni Council as well as one of the College Foundation’s founding trustees.

The College Foundation is an independent University-related foundation created by alumni of the College of Arts & Sciences. The organization raises funds for and advocates on behalf of the College and Graduate School. It also manages major gifts and endowments for the benefit of Arts & Sciences. Among its fundraising priorities are the more than $70 million in private funds needed for construction of Phase I of the South Lawn Project and leadership gift commitments to support the Arts Grounds and other infrastructure, personnel and programmatic objectives of the school.
